Born on August 6, 1955 in Houston, Texas, Ron Davis (Ronald Gene Davis) played for the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants over the course of his 11 year career. Davis broke into the bigs on July 29, 1978 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 2.85 ERA in 85.1 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Ron Davis's best season was 1983, when he posted a 3.34 ERA, notched 30 saves and struck out 84 batters.
