Roger Shoals (Roger Richard Shoals) was born on December 13, 1938 in Baltimore, Maryland. After going to high school at Greenbrier Military Academy (Lewisburg, WV) and Norwalk (CT), Shoals attended the University of Maryland. Shoals made his professional debut in the NFL in 1963 with the Cleveland Browns. He played for the Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns and Denver Broncos over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that 1964 was Roger Shoals's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
