Born on June 7, 1944 in Altadena, California, Roger Nelson (Roger Eugene Nelson) played for the Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Kansas City Royals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 9 year career. Nelson broke into the bigs on September 9, 1967 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 2.41 ERA in 71 innings pitched in 1968, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Roger Nelson's best season was 1972, when he posted a 2.08 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 120 batters.
