Rod Shoate (Roderick Shoate) was born on April 26, 1953 in Spiro, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Spiro (OK), Shoate attended the University of Oklahoma. Shoate made his professional debut in the NFL in 1975 with the New England Patriots. He played for the New England Patriots for his entire 6 year career.
Most people believe that 1980 was Rod Shoate's best year, as he picked off 3 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
