Born on March 17, 1956 in Sacramento, California, Rod Scurry (Rodney Grant Scurry) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners over the course of his 8 year career. Scurry broke into the bigs on April 17, 1980 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.77 ERA in 74 innings pitched in 1981, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rod Scurry's best season was 1982, when he posted a 1.74 ERA, notched 14 saves and struck out 94 batters.
