Born on December 29, 1964 in Burlington, Iowa, Rod Nichols (Rodney Lea Nichols) played for the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves over the course of his 7 year career. Nichols broke into the bigs on July 30, 1988 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 5.06 ERA in 69.1 innings pitched in 1988, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rod Nichols's best season was 1991, when he posted a 3.54 ERA and struck out 76 batters.
