Rod Marinelli Hates Tables

A Detroit Free Press columnist, Nicholas Cotsonika, is now living in fear after a supposed-to-be-harmless interview with Lions head coach Rod Marinelli turned awry. The two sat down to discuss the coach's idea for football mentality next season. Marinelli dubbed this the "pound the rock" mindset.
"It's hard to do," Marinelli said. "The consistency and the mental toughness it takes to do that is really hard. Really hard. You have a bad play on the field?"
He chopped the table in front of him with his hand.
The chop. Something Nicholas will remember for the rest of his life.
Over the course of the interview, Marinelli chopped an approximate 20 times.
"Pound the rock," he continued.
You have a sack? (chop) Take the sack. Let it go. (chop) Get another one."
Cotsonika: "Oww, that was my arm!"
Marinelli: "Take your chewing and move on."
This was only the beginning for the terrified and bewildered writer.
"Play (chop) in the (chop) present. When you're swinging (chop) at that thing, you're swinging in the present (chop). That's all you're doing. You're just staying (chop) on course (chop). It helps you in the game. That's how the scoreboard becomes invisible.
"That snap."
C: "Yeah, my arm snapped all right.."
M: "Take your chewing and move on!"
"That's why you don't see back-to-back sacks very often. The guy's celebrating for 20 minutes instead of just (chop) getting back to (chop) what you're doing.
That snap. (smack) That snap. (smack) That's what you do, and that's how you live your life, in my opinion."
........ Marinelli smack one hand into the other.
C: "Gahhhh! Coach, stop it!"
M: "Take your god-damned chewing and move on!!!I (chop) will (chop) destroy (chop) you (smack)!"
Cotsonika is in critical condition at a Detroit hospital..
