Born on August 3, 1968 in Burbank, California, Rod Beck (Rodney Roy Beck) played for the San Francisco Giants, Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox and San Diego Padres over the course of his 13 year career. Beck broke into the bigs on May 6, 1991 with the San Francisco Giants, and put up a 3.78 ERA in 52.1 innings pitched in 1991, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rod Beck's best season was 1993, when he posted a 2.16 ERA, notched 48 saves and struck out 86 batters.
