Rocky Nelson (Glenn Richard Nelson) was born on November 18, 1924 in Portsmouth, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on April 27, 1949 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1949, his rookie year, he hit .221 with 4 home runs and 32 RBI. Nelson played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Brooklyn Dodgers and Cleveland Indians over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Rocky Nelson's best season was 1960, when he hit for a .300 average.
