Rockies lose home opener

8
Vote

(is it really news?)

The Good

Brad Hawpe goes 3-5 with 2 RBIs. Todd Helton went 2-4. Jeff Baker pinch hit a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth for the lead, 6-5.

The Bad

LaTroy Hawkins intentionally walked Stephen Drew to an empty first base to load the bases in the eighth. Eric Byrnes makes the Rox pay with a line drive over the second basemen to score two runs and put the Diamondbacks in the lead, 7-6.

The Rox's Helton gets a lead-off double in the bottom of the ninth, and then Matt Holiday, Hawpe and Troy Tulowitzki go out in order.

The Ugly

Dan O'Dowd and Clint Hurdle were given two-year contract extensions through 2009. Nothing against Hurdle who has done a fine job with what O'Dowd has given him, which is little. Another two-years in the bottom of the NL West, if not the league.

I identify as a Rockies fan, but that doesn't really mean much.
