Rockies improbable run to the NLDS

14
Vote

by Pickemgenius

An abysmal April,

20 for 27 streak from mid may to June,

followed by a 9 game losing streak.

They had multiple (6) home runs called doubles.

They lost 3 starting pitchers in the last half of the season.

They relied on two rookies and Mark Redman to take those slots.

A 23 year old closer, who took over after all-star Brian Fuentes got hurt.

14 out of the last 15 to finish the season.

A R.O.Y candidate in Troy Tulowitzki

An MVP candidate in Matt Holliday.

An aging Todd Helton, whom everyone wanted to see traded.

That epic 163rd game.

So here's to the true Rockies fans.

The ones who have waited so long.

The ones that watched, and followed throughout the years.

This one is for you.

Here is for the passion.

The sight of Helton finally getting to play meaningful games.

The usual stoic, Helton who rather talks about his team rather then himself celebrating.

A true sight of perseverance.

10 years playing for the Rockies, and no post season.

This one is for you Todd Helton.

Embrace every minute of it.

Only one flaw here...they didn't get no hit by McGowan...Scott Baker singled to break that up.

What a hell of a game last night, huh? True classic. Holliday might have lost himself the MVP with that defensive gaffe in the 8th.

Case in point, Matt Holliday for MVP. He deserves it. Look at his numbers:

.340 BA (1st), 36 HRs (4th), 135 RBIs (2nd), 91 extra base hits (1st), 382 total bases (1st), .405 OBP (7th), .606 SLG (3rd), 119 runs scored (3rd).

AMAZING numbers. No doubt he's an MVP now that the Rockies made an incredible run. Rollins, Howard, and Utley? Sorry, I don't think you can really beat that.

That game was awesome. I feel bad for Padres fans, but I'm really excited to see these Rockies in the playoffs.

So do I, but the Padres didn't really have an offense, and depended on only 2 pitchers, and a pretty good bullpen... until the last couple of games.
