Born on December , 1856 in Washington, D.C., Bob Barr (Robert McClelland Barr) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals, Indianapolis Blues, Washington Senators, Rochester Hop Bitters and New York Giants over the course of his 5 year career. Barr broke into the bigs on June 23, 1883 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.38 ERA in 203.1 innings pitched in 1883, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Bob Barr's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1890, when he posted a 3.25 ERA, won 28 games and struck out 209 batters. However, others believe that it was 1884, when he posted a 3.94 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 207 batters.
