Ripper Collins (James Anthony Collins) was born on March 30, 1904 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on April 18, 1931 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1931, his rookie year, he hit .301 with 4 home runs and 59 RBI. Collins played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Ripper Collins's best season was 1934, when he slugged 35 home runs, hit for a .333 average and knocked in 128 runs.
