Born on February 26, 1896 in Weatherford, Texas, Rip Collins (Harry Warren Collins) played for the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and St. Louis Browns over the course of his 11 year career. Collins broke into the bigs on April 19, 1920 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 3.22 ERA in 187.1 innings pitched in 1920, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rip Collins's best season was 1924, when he posted a 3.21 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 75 batters.
