Rip Cannell (Virgin Wirt Cannell) was born on January 23, 1880 in South Bridgton, Maine. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1904 for the Boston Beaneaters. In 1904, his rookie year, he hit .234 with 0 home runs and 18 RBI. Cannell played for the Boston Beaneaters for his entire 2 year career.
