Born on June 21, 1956 in Independence, Missouri, Rick Sutcliffe (Richard Lee Sutcliffe) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 18 year career. Sutcliffe broke into the bigs on September 29, 1976 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 3.46 ERA in 242 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rick Sutcliffe's best season was 1984, when he posted a 3.64 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 213 batters.
