Born on August 16, 1964 in Huntington, West Virginia, Rick Reed (Richard Allen Reed) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets and Minnesota Twins over the course of his 15 year career. Reed broke into the bigs on August 8, 1988 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 5.60 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched in 1989, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rick Reed's best season was 1998, when he posted a 3.48 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 153 batters.
