Born on November 22, 1953 in Wharton, Texas, Rick Matula (Richard Carlton Matula) played for the Atlanta Braves for his entire 3 year career. Matula broke into the bigs on April 8, 1979 with the Atlanta Braves, and put up a 4.15 ERA in 171.1 innings pitched in 1979, his rookie year.
