Born on March 20, 1952 in Farmville, Virginia, Rick Langford (James Rick Langford) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Oakland Athletics over the course of his 11 year career. Langford broke into the bigs on June 13, 1976 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 4.02 ERA in 208.1 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rick Langford's best season was 1980, when he posted a 3.26 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 102 batters.
