Born on May 18, 1971 in Maracay, Aragua (Venezuela), Rich Garces (Richard Aron (Mendoza) Garces) played for the Minnesota Twins, Florida Marlins, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 10 year career. Garces broke into the bigs on September 18, 1990 with the Minnesota Twins, and put up a 3.25 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched in 2000, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Rich Garces's best season was 2000, when he posted a 3.25 ERA and struck out 69 batters.
