Rich Chiles (Richard Francis Chiles) was born on November 22, 1949 in Sacramento, California. He made his Major League debut on April 20, 1971 for the Houston Astros. In 1977, his rookie year, he hit .264 with 3 home runs and 36 RBI. Chiles played for the Houston Astros, New York Mets and Minnesota Twins over the course of his 6 year career.
