Rich Aurilia (Richard Santo Aurilia) was born on September 2, 1971 in Brooklyn, New York. He made his Major League debut on September 6, 1995 for the San Francisco Giants. In 1996, his rookie year, he hit .239 with 3 home runs and 26 RBI. Aurilia played for the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Rich Aurilia's best season was 2001, when he slugged 37 home runs, hit for a .324 average and knocked in 97 runs.

  • On June 14, 1997, during his first stint with the Giants, Aurilia hit the first-ever grand slam in interleague play at the expense of the Anaheim Angels' Allen Watson, a former teammate. The Giants went on to win the game 10-3.
  • Aurilia appeared on the ABC soap opera "General Hospital" in 2003. For his non-speaking role as Juror No. 9 in a court room scene, he was accompanied by his wife, Raquel (Juror No. 10).
  • The Aurilias are very active in the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
