Josh Q. Public: Yes, I’m running down the railway track. Could you help me? Police on my back. They will catch me, if I dare drop back. Won’t you give, me all the speed I lack?
Public Service Announcement:
Ok, here we go! Can I pick’em or what? I’m insufferable when I’m right. First Mighty Vince the Nashville Prince goes all Captain Comeback on us. Now this. Now Devin Hester. Devin Hester, Mr. Anytime, the pound your chester, the bulletproof vester, the very bester, completes my Rookie of the Year Daily Double. Nobody had Vince. Nobody. Everybody had Marques Colston of the feel good Saints. And nobody, I mean nobody, had Devin Hester. Scouts Inc. had him as an honorable mention. Five dudes in front of him. Devin just ran himself into first. Unless you live in a cave. Unless your cable went out. You saw it. Renaldo Nehemiah’s got nothing on this cat. Devin Hester returning the football. Devin Hester returning the football to the hizzy. Devin Hester returning the football to the hizzy not once, but two times. Get the papers, get the papers. Returning the football to the hizzy and into our hearts. Returning the football to the hizzy and into the record books. Those returns were his fourth and fifth touchdowns this season on either a kickoff or a punt return. Those returns set an NFL record. Nine previous players had scored four times on kickoff or punt returns in one season. Hester also broke the broader record for most “return touchdowns” in a season. Touchdowns other than those on running or passing plays. He has three punt-return touchdowns, two kickoff-return touchdowns and one field-goal-return touchdown. Yowza! Ken Houston of the 1971 Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers number one! held the previous record with five return touchdowns, four on interceptions and one on an opponent’s fumble. Go Devin go! Is there any play in football more exciting than the return for the touchdown. From Pop Warner to the pros, we love it. It brought Lovie Smith to tears. We loved Billy White Shoes Johnson. We loved Mel Gray. We loved Desmond Howard. We loved dante Hall. We loved Eric Metcalf. We loved David Meggett. We loved Greg Pruitt. We love Devin Hester, Mr. Anytime, the very bester. Rookie of the Year. Devin Hester, you are ridiculous!
Peace out homies. Six Two and Even! josh q. public
