Rent Friday Night Lights Season 1 Right Now!

Believe me, I would never try to rehash something that the Sports Guy wrote (that article was probably his last readable piece). The fact is that I've had the DVD's before I actually read his article, based on a raving recommendation from my brother. I finished the first season in about a week and a half (22 episodes), and absolutely loved it.

To help explain my extreme liking of this show, let me offer a few confessions.

Confession #1

I watched and enjoyed the Saturday morning NBC show "Hang Time" back in the day. By the time college rolled around, my roommates thought I was weird.

Confession #2

I have seen every episode of The OC, and was kind of disappointed when they cancelled it.

Confession #3

I thought "Friday Night Lights" the movie starring Billy Bob Thornton was excellent. I'm not really sure where it falls on the sports movie barometer, but its quickly moving up on my all-time list (no one will ever top Hoosiers).

Confession #4

Never in a million years did I think I would ever watch a show centered around sports (let alone Football) with my lady. I'm still amazed that I even got her to consider watching the first episode. Thankfully, one of her friends raved about it as well. We decided to give it a whirl and ripped through the whole season many episodes at a time.

The show has a great balance of intense Texas High School football mixed with television drama. If you can get over the fact that every game practically comes down to the last play, I think every football fan would enjoy this show. If you are like me and enjoy the guilty pleasure of certain television dramas, then its a win-win!
