Renard Cox (Renard Cox) was born on March 3, 1978 in Richmond, Virginia. After going to high school at Hugenot (Richmond, VA), Cox attended Lackawanna College and the University of Maryland. Cox made his professional debut in the NFL in 2001 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He played for the Jacksonville Jaguars for his entire 1 year career.

Acquired:

Signed as a free-agent by the Tiger-Cats on April 16, 2004.

2006:

Played in 15 games, recording 41 defensive tackles, two special teams tackles, one interception and one forced fumble

2005:

Finished his 2005 season with 46 defensive tackles and one forced fumble.

2004:

Made a team high five defensive tackles in Hamilton's 24-6 East Semi-Final loss in Toronto...made two defensive tackles and one special teams tackle in Hamilton's 24-19 victory in Ottawa on October 30th...played in Hamilton's 38-31 loss in Toronto on October 21st.

2003:

Returned for a second season with Barcelona after the Dragons protected him...made 11 total tackles (10 solo) and two pass knockdowns...started three games at strong safety during the regular season...made a season high five solo tackles in the Dragons 15-13 season opening loss to Frankfurt.

2002:

Spent the last three games of the regular season on the Tiger-Cats practice roster after signing as a free-agent with Hamilton on October 11th...attended Jacksonville's training camp and was released on September 2nd...initially played for the Barcelona Dragons during the spring after Jacksonville allocated him to NFL Europe...played in all 10 games, making five starts at strong safety and one at free safety...finished sixth on the Dragons with 37 total tackles (30 solo)...also had three pass knockdowns and blocked one punt...made a season high seven total tackles (6 solo) in the Dragons 27-24 season ending loss to the Scottish Claymores...blocked a Gabe Lindstrom punt that Cornelius Anthony returned 25 yards for the score in Barcelona's 31-10 win over the Frankfurt Galaxy on May 25th.

2001:

Signed off New Orleans practice roster by the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 6th...played in five games with Jacksonville during the regular season, making his NFL debut in the Jaguars 30-13 victory over Cincinnati on November 11th...had attended the Saints training camp after signing with them as a free-agent on July 20th...was released by New Orleans on September 2nd and was signed to their practice roster on October 30th...initially played in all 10 games for the Scottish Claymores during the spring after they selected him in the fifth round of the 2001 NFL Europe Free Agent Draft...finished fourth on the Claymores with 30 total tackles (29 solo)...also had two pass knock downs and one forced fumble.

2000:

Signed as an undrafted free-agent with the Arizona Cardinals April 28th...attended the Cardinals training camp and was released on August 21st.

College:

Played two seasons (1998-99) at the University of Maryland after transferring from Lackawanna Junior College in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Personal:

Renard Lavell Cox was born on March 3rd, 1978...son of Sandra and Fredrick Collier...graduated from Huguenot High School (Richmond, Va.) in 1996...earned all-district and all-city recognition as a senior.
