Remember That Call...Giving Him The Business?

Remember that call against Mark Gastineau, even though Marty Lyons was the one doing it, where the Referee said he was "Giving him the Business down there"? Well in Saturday's game between NC STATE and MARYLAND ACC Ref Ron Cherry said the same call. Check it out.

Sweet! Giving him the business is classic. I try to use that reference at least once a month along with a quality re-enactment of Nolan Ryan v. Robin Ventura's noggin.

The Nolan Ryan vs. Robin Ventura is still my favorite baseball brawl. Well...not much of a brawl as much as a good ole fashion butt woopin from an old guy.

The ref in question was a guy named Ben Drieth, who if memory serves me right, is no longer with us. Yes, that was a funny moment.

Cherry's call stunk! Ben Dreith (the original) made his call on a personal foul penalty, and gave the motion of someone punching on the bottom of the pile. Cherry picked the wrong penalty (an holding penalty); what kind of "business" are you giving someone on a holding penalty. LAME!!!

Dude, you are a dumb ass. Listen to what Cherry actually says not the commentators. Even better watch his hand signal. He motions a personal foul not a hold if you know anything about football hand signals you would know that. If you watch the video you can clearly see 69 pull and pancake the guy then swing down at his head. This is the "business" that was being given so it was the right call. You're the one thats LAME!!!

actually the linemen tackled a defender to the ground and then gave him the business down there.
