The game didn't matter, except to some unknown no-names, and the game was only a scrimmage. On the other hand, 47,258 fans turned up on Saturday August 5th to watch the Redskins run around and play against the Baltimore Ravens. Price of admission? Zero dollars to enter, but you better not have driven ($25 to park).
As Jason La Canfora notes in the Washington Post, the fans were very exited and were lined up to enter the stadium 2 hours before start time. Fans were very loud and chanting the players names, and this was during the warm-ups.
End of scrimmage? Redskins "won," but you would be hard pressed to find news about the "game." Even the radio station that carried the game locally (ESPN, no tv station carried the game), kept quiet on it's website about the game after the fact. 47,258 fans had fun, the players were happy to see the crowd (""That crowd blew my mind," wide receiver Brandon Lloyd said"), but the game was a dim foreshadow to the preseason (which has started), which are themselves looked on with disdain (by some fans).
