Texans 31 Broncos 13 - Back in 2006, everybody in the world criticized the Houston Texans for selecting Mario Williams with the number one pick instead of celebrated college stars such as Reggie Bush, Vince Young, and Matt Leinart. Even their fans chanted "overrated" following his selection. Two years later, nobody is criticizing the Texans as Williams is having a better season than the former USC and Texas stars. Currently, the Texans defensive end has 13 sacks and two forced fumbles. On Thursday night against the Broncos he recorded 3 1/2 sacks in leading Houston to a 31-13 victory over the visiting Broncos. The victory gave Houston a 7-7 record, equaling the franchise total in wins, while keeping them in the playoff hunt. On the other side of the ball, Denver pretty much eliminated themselves from playoff contention, as they are now 6-8.
49ers 20 Bengals 13 - The Bengals have pretty much fallen off the face of the earth here. Just two seasons ago, Carson Palmer and company won an AFC North title but now they have just four wins after losing to the depleted 49ers. On Saturday night, the porous Bengals defense allowed 49ers quarterback Shaun Hill, who was the third stringer and a starter for NFL Europe months ago, to complete 75% of his passes and record two touchdowns (1 passing and 1 rushing). The way this season has gone, it wouldn't surprise me if Marvin Lewis begins looking for a new job really fast.
