Born on November 9, 1933 in Long Beach, California, Red Witt (George Adrian Witt) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Los Angeles Angels and Houston Colt .45s over the course of his 6 year career. Witt broke into the bigs on September 21, 1957 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 1.61 ERA in 106 innings pitched in 1958, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Red Witt's best season was 1958, when he posted a 1.61 ERA and struck out 81 batters.
