Born on October 15, 1936 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Red Swanson (Arthur Leonard Swanson) played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 3 year career. Swanson broke into the bigs on September 10, 1955 with the Pittsburgh Pirates, and put up a 3.72 ERA in 72.2 innings pitched in 1957, his rookie year.
