Red Stephens (Louis Edward Stephens) was born on May 10, 1930 in Denver, Colorado. After going to high school at St. Joseph's (Alameda, CA)*, Stephens attended the University of San Francisco. Stephens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1955 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 5 year career.
