Red Smith (Richard Paul Smith) was born on May 18, 1904 in Brokaw, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Kaukauna (WI), Smith attended Lawrence University and the University of Notre Dame. Smith made his professional debut in the NFL in 1927 with the Green Bay Packers. He played for the Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, New York Yankees and Newark Tornadoes over the course of his 5 year career.
