Red Shannon (Maurice Joseph Shannon) was born on February 11, 1897 in Jersey City, New Jersey. He made his Major League debut on October 7, 1915 for the Boston Braves. In 1918, his rookie year, he hit .240 with 0 home runs and 16 RBI. Shannon played for the Boston Braves, Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Washington Senators and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 6 year career.
