Red Kress (Ralph Kress) was born on January 2, 1905 in Columbia, California. He made his Major League debut on September 24, 1927 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 3 home runs and 81 RBI. Kress played for the St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, Washington Senators, Detroit Tigers and New York Giants over the course of his 14 year career.

Most people believe that Red Kress's best season was 1930, when he slugged 16 home runs, hit for a .313 average and knocked in 112 runs.
