Red Barkley (John Duncan Barkley) was born on September 19, 1912 in Childress, Texas. He made his Major League debut on September 2, 1937 for the St. Louis Browns. Barkley played for the St. Louis Browns, Boston Braves and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 3 year career.
