Orlando at Philadelphia: After both teams put in good defensive efforts in the first half and playing to a 20-20 tie, the Soul defense came out in the second half and took Orlando's offense almost completely out of the game as Philly won going away 41-26. The 6 points allowed by Philly in the second half is only the 3rd time in the last 48 AFL playoff games a team has held its opponent under 7 points in a half and matches what Orlando did to Philly last year in their second round game.
Columbus at Tampa Bay: In both the surprize result of the weekend and the best game played, the Destroyers franchise finally posted it's first playoff win ever, in Tampa's house 56-55. The game turned on two events, a Columbus interception return for a TD in the second quarter by BJ Barre and two special teams let downs in the 4th by Tampa's kicker Seth Marler, who missed both an XP and a final play field goal attempt.
Colorado at Kansas City: In the second game on Saturday, Colorado advanced when Raymond Philyaw's pass fell short of his receiver in the end zone as the Crush won 49-42. Damian Harrell scored the winning points with 2:12 left in the 4th on a rainbow, back-of-the-endzone toss from John Dutton. Trailing by 5 at the half, the Crush defense posted a 3rd quarter shutout while winning the second half 26-14.
Utah at Los Angeles: Los Angeles won their 1st playoff game in the team's 8 year history by pounding Utah 64-42 in a game that after the first quarter was never that close. After trading 2 touchdowns in the first quarter, Utah recovered a muffed kickoff early in the second to set themselves up at LA's 5. Under pressure, Blaze QB Joe Germaine started the Utah 2nd quarter turnover parade by jacking an errant pass off the net iron intercepted by LA's Josh Jefferies, and the rout was on. By the time Utah scored again, they were down 58-14 and never seriously in contention.
