Ready For London

by Kenrick Thomas

The New York Giants are getting ready for the Miami Dolphins in London. Success has been accomplished by the Giants and more is coming.

It's different for the Giants, because their playing in London.

The Dolphins are 0-7 on the season; it shouldn't be hard for the Giants to succeed.

"I told the players, you just put a smile on your face and realize that some things aren't going to run as smoothly as you're used to," Tom Coughlin said.

It's uncomfortable, but it’s against the Dolphins. The Giants should win, and enjoy another victory."

"At some point in time, obviously, the people, the higher-ups, the Maras and the Tischs, made the decision that we could play this game," Coughlin said. "So we'll go with that."

Playing pre-season games overseas is great, but not regular season games. It's not entertaining, and hopefully it doesn't continue. The NFL is in the United States, and that should remain. London already has a football league, and they don't play in the United States. The people in London don't care who wins in the NFL.

It took time, but the Giants gotten formula.

"Earlier in the meetings, you could see people were tired," Michael Strahan said. "They looked beaten up pretty badly. But now, everyone's awake, feeling good. Now the test is to see if they can go back to the hotel and stay awake until it's time to go to bed. That's the key."

It's important to get comfortable, because it helps on the field.

"Me and my wife were surrounded by like 10 300- and 350-pound guys," Lemon said. "We were crammed in together. We heard a lot of jokes, a lot of weird noises."

It’s different in London, because the atmosphere and cultures aren't the same. The Dolphins and Giants are experiencing something different.

"When you're losing some games, it's nice to get something to break up the rhythm a bit," Jay Feely said. "That could work to our advantage. When you're winning, you don't want anything to change, and coaches in particular are very focused on trying to keep everything the same, whether it's the day you go out, the time you go out, the food you eat on the plane."

There's nothing to worry about, just play and win.

"As I've said, normally, it's total tunnel vision. I've expanded that a little bit in this particular area. But still, we're here for one reason and one reason only, and that's to play a very, very important football game. The players are fully aware of what's at stake. We do enjoy the idea of winning."

Osi Umenyiora was born in London, but isn't formula with the area. He's excited, but wants to win.

"It's just another game. It's special because we are in the United Kingdom and it's special because this is where I am from, but besides that we have to go 6-2," Umenyiora said.

Winning is important, and Umenyiora wants to "smack" the Dolphins.

"It's not like the NFL is going to say 'OK, we are in London so it doesn't count'. It's just as important as any other game I have played in."

The Giants are excited, because playing in London doesn't happen everytime.

"This is a big deal and the players and coaches realize that this is something special that hasn't happened before, “Eli Manning said. "We are honored to be a part of it and we are honored to be chosen as the first one to do it along with Miami and try to put on a show. I'm pleased that people are excited about it. I'm looking forward to seeing Wembley Stadium and seeing what that is all about."

The Giants need to win, because their still competing in the NFC East.

It's going to be the first NFL game with highlights on free to air TV in Britain (other than the Playoffs) that I can ever remember. What's great, is that I don't have to stay up until 3am to see them. :)

"Playing pre-season games overseas is great, but not regular season games. It's not entertaining, and hopefully it doesn't continue." Why is it not entertaining? It will be just as entertaining as if the game was played in Miami or New York. The same game is being played with the same players, it's just in a different place. You should probably look into broadening your horizons, especially since the game has yet to even be played.

That's why they sold the first 40,000 tickets to the game in 90 minutes right.

So what if they are? It is a way to expand the league. People go to the game, and maybe they like it, and then maybe they become a fan. Who cares why they are going to the game. The only thing that matters is that they are actually going to the game.

Image:Dictionary.jpg This user will go out of his way to point out errors in spelling and grammar. It's not because he wants to be rude, but because he loves the language so much.

"He" is used for the sake of a pronoun. It equally applies to she.

I will agree with Romi on this one... grammer is necessary to make sure that what is being said makes sence to the reader... but spelling isn't as important because the reader can still understand what is being said

Example:

Grammer: "I learned him how to do it right"... Should be "I taught him how to do it right." Big Difference...

Speling: "I tauht him how ta do it write"... Should be "I taught him how to do it right"... It still reads the same... Not as big of a difference...

Falcon, you are SOOOO friggin lucky you actually have teachers that are football, baseball, maybe basketball fans. All we have here, for teachers who are sports fans, are stupid soccer fans. But most of them aren't sports fans AT ALL, which totally sucks. And all the teachers in my school who are baseball fans (most of them are Red Sox fans) are not my teachers. Pre Cal: I'm not in precal... physics: I'm not in physics. Coincidentally, I'm not in either of their classes. As far as English goes, she doesn't like sports at all.

I live just up the road from Wembley but had absolutely no interest in going tonight, I'm sure the NFL will get itself some new fans out of this little experiment but it's simple, no sport will EVER be even remotely as big as Football ("Soccer") over here. The most disturbing aspect of this whole thing is that some idiot chairman from the Premier League has now suggested that we take a Premier League game over to be played in America to try to "expand the sport" over there - absolute bullshit, this is all about marketing and teams/leagues making more money.

That's kinda my point Kenrick but not quite. If you've not been to England and specifically to an English football match you probably wouldn't understand it, sure, the Italians take their flares to the game and it all looks very nice for the TV but if you want real obsession, fanatacism for football then it's England you look at. There's nothing to beat the atmosphere at an English football match - rugby, cricket, etc. are so far behind in terms of importance to the majority of English people that they barely even register, fot that reason the NFL and American Football as a whole has absolutely no chance of cracking the English "market", not meant in a nasty way but put simply, we don't care.
