Razorbacks name SuperFrosh starter at QB; Johnson demoted to WR

Houston Nutt - “Robert Johnson took the news with integrity and class. We want to get him a true role at wide receiver. This is not his fault. The fumbles were not his fault. Some dropped passes are not his fault, but Mitch has done good things all through fall camp, thrown the ball very accurately and been very good under pressure. He got in the game and executed and took the team down the field.” Nutt said Mustain will get "85 to 90 percent" of the practice time and Casey Dick would get the remainder.

Robert Johnson is officially the sacrificial lamb of the USC slaughter in Fayetteville, not only losing his starting QB job but being moved to a WR position. What makes this all the more punitive for Johnson is the fact that the Hogs are extremely deep at wideout and he'll likely have no impact.

Mitch Mustain was the Gatorade National POY for 2005 - 2006 and was recruited heavily by Texas, Florida and Notre Dame among many others before choosing Arkansas. He's the future of the program, whether that be a bright future or not.

I think he'll have a great "freshman" season meaning he'll make lots of great throws and will make some really really bad ones as well. In Gus Malzahn's new spread offense, Mitch is destined for more success than would have been available to Robert Johnson and Casey Dick.

I think they may have gotten unrealistic expectations from all the dufuses out there who said that Arkansas had a chance to beat USC. Yes, they lost a lot of offensive starters, but there's still a large disparity in player and coaching talent. This game should not have been hyped like it was.

Frustration, Frustration, Frustration. Gotta have a scapegoat and in this case its Johnson. Mustain did look good in mop up duty.

He was playing against all the USC back-ups on D though.

USC's backups are pretty good though. Probably better than many teams starters.

C'mon he was playing in H.S. last year so it is a big jump. However he better be good because the SEC is tough.
