Ray Marelli (Raymond Charles Marelli) was born on January 23, 1901 in Rockford, Illinois. After going to high school at Central (Rockford, IL), Marelli attended the University of Notre Dame. Marelli made his professional debut in the NFL in 1928 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 1 year career.
