Ray Davis (Raymond Elswood Davis) was born on September 14, 1907 in Birmingham, Alabama. After going to high school at Anniston (AL), Davis attended Samford University. Davis made his professional debut in the NFL in 1932 with the Portsmouth Spartans. He played for the Portsmouth Spartans for his entire 3 year career.
