[edit] Biography

Born on August 6, 1941 in Elgin, Texas, Ray Culp (Raymond Leonard Culp) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 11 year career. Culp broke into the bigs on April 10, 1963 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 2.97 ERA in 203.1 innings pitched in 1963, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Ray Culp's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1970, when he posted a 3.04 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 197 batters. However, others believe that it was 1968, when he posted a 2.91 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 190 batters.
