Ray Butler (Raymond Leonard Butler) was born on June 28, 1956 in Port Lavaca, Texas. After going to high school at Sweeny (Brazoria, TX), Butler attended the University of Southern California and Wharton Country Junior College. Butler made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the Baltimore Colts. He played for the Baltimore Colts, Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that 1981 was Ray Butler's best year, as he hauled in 46 receptions, had 832 receiving yards and caught 9 TD passes.
