Ray Blades (Francis Raymond Blades) was born on August 6, 1896 in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on August 19, 1922 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1922, his rookie year, he hit .300 with 3 home runs and 21 RBI. Blades played for the St. Louis Cardinals for his entire 10 year career.

Most people believe that Ray Blades's best season was 1925, when he hit for a .342 average and knocked in 57 runs.
