[edit] Scouting Report
An undrafted rookie free agent, Marshall played well for the Mavericks' summer-league squad and earned a roster spot, spending much of the year with their NBDL affiliate in Fort Worth. As a player, Marshall is an extremely unseasoned version of fellow Mav Josh Howard, boasting long arms and good athleticism. He already shows great promise on the defensive end, flashing man-to-man ability and defensive awareness far beyond his years as a rookie. Marshall really needs to work on his offense, though: his jumper was downright awful, and (like most rookies) he committed far too many turnovers. And despite his length, Marshall's rebounding in his first year was sub-par as well. He did show good ability when attacking the basket, however, and his free throw stroke suggests that his shooting will eventually come along. Marshall is one of many young Dallas prospects, but with improved shooting and ballhandling he could eventually become an NBA mainstay, if not simply because of his defensive skills.
