Born on February 4, 1888 in Burnet, Texas, Rankin Johnson (Adam Rankin Johnson, Sr.) played for the Chicago Whales, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Terrapins and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 3 year career. Johnson broke into the bigs on April 20, 1914 with the Chicago Whales, and put up a 2.26 ERA in 219.1 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.
