Randy Moss to the Patriots?

10
Vote

I just heard it... Is it true????

A fairly reliable source just told me a deal is in place. If so, huh! If not, my 'reliable source' just got demoted to rumormonger. (and I'll ask an admin to delete this)

Nothing on the web yet...

jeez, now the Cards stand a chance against the Raiders next week!

yeah, I read the column. That's why I had been a little shocked! The NFL NEEDS a mid-season deal. What was the last great one? Eric Dickerson to the Colts?

I have heard rumors that they were trying to work a deal out, but I haven't heard anything that they have agreed on a trade. I'll keep watching though.

that sounds a lot like "A-Rod to the Red Sox is a done deal" to me... they just don't want to drive the price up at the last minute!!

Until the deadline passes, I won't believe anything... (we all knew there'd be no deals done)

(I don't care if it happens or not, I just thought it was interesting; and it seems my "fairly credible source" gets relegated to ficticious rumormonger now)

Moss would go to the Patriots for Seattle's 1st round pick

I doubt the Pats will be making any moves for a wideout. Brady loves Gabriel and Watson, plus Caldwell, Graham, Brown, and, now Gaffney are nice compliments. Brady doesn't really need a go to guy when he likes to spread the ball around so much.

I can see the Pats making a move for a new wideout, just not sure that Moss is the guy. You talk about the anti-Patriot he has to be it.

Patriots need to make a move, Brady was not happy when this offseason. He agreed to much less money in return for the Pats keeping guys around. They're 13 million under the cap now, that money doesn't carry over, they should make some sort of acquisition to back up their word. And Moss would be great from a x's and o's standpoint. Because of the way Brady spreads it out, doubling covering Moss becomes very difficult if a team still intends on playing run defense. Moss doesn't need to be thrown at 15 times a game, he isn't that type of player. He needs deep ball opportunities that would arise from his single coverage, making the Patriots much more dangerous. The question is if Moss is still the player he once was and just being lazy in Oakland, or has he actually lost a step.

I think the deal would be good for the Pats and good for Moss, but Al Davis isn't going to get rid of him... As for Moss being the "Anti-Pat", WHAT has he done wrong the last couple of years?

I still don't think it'll happen in the end, but it's not out of the question. Look at what happened with Dillon. He didn't seem like the "Patriots-type", but it turned out all he needed was a winning atmosphere. Moss was fine when the Vikings were winning, but couldn't handle the losing. I think Brady and Belichick would keep him in line.

Attacking other users is uncalled for, especially behind the mask of an AF. This is a forum in which sports enthusiasts share their opinions. Disagree? Fine, then argue with a dissenting opinion. Don't attck from behind the A.F. mask. Oh yeah, and you're not a good writer, dude. I have read your work.

I came out and said I wasnt hiding. You all know who I am and what I think. I am sharing my opinion. Manny is one of the two or three best writers on this site, and that doesnt include me. Just didnt think he should say he had a source when he was reading ESPN. I see your ranked 8th. So because you sit on this site 24-7 and boost your rank doesnt mean you write well. Remind me which publications you are on staff with?

First of all, Manny is a very good writer and I think hes a great guy. Second he shouldnt say he has trusted sources when hes reading ESPN.com. Third, would be considered as real as it gets as I write for the Daily Breeze and am the Sports Editor for the Los Angeles Journal. When I need a scoop I can walk right into the locker room and ask the player or coach themseleves. Im not trying to hide here. By the way being a credentialed sports writer is a sweet gig.

The Los Angeles Journal is a community paper. It's like one of those things you walk into McDonald's and pick up. It is mainly focused on art and allowing artists in the LA area to get exposure. While I won't deny it is probably a good place to start and get some exposure for a writer, it doesn't make you any more of a "real" sports writer than people who write for well known websites (Armchair GM, Sportscolumn, or Atomic Sports Media, all places I write for) or anything else. I also highly doubt that you can walk right into any locker room you want to get an interview, except maybe your local high school locker room. (By the way, since you're the sports editor, check the intro to the Jim Leyland article posted on the website... it's not making you look very good)

My source was not an ESPN article. My source has been right before on some pretty obscure stuff. He said a deal was in the works. Even if he made it up, I thought it was interesting idea to throw it out there. I also was mildly amused when Dan Patrick brought the same issue up 3 hours later on his radio show... then told Olbermann who said call the Patriots and tell them we made the deal for them.

I may not be a "journalist" but I am journalistic by nature. I have volumes and piles of writing from the days before the internet... in journals, a la "the nature of journalism" - I also abide by a code of ethics in my writing that you may never understand. I write so people can enjoy reading even if they don't know why they enjoy this nonsense...

I heard the rumor and made a mistake of trying to wish it true by reinforcing the thought in my most comfortable outlet. As for saying I get my ideas from ESPN, check my archive then you can blow me. ESPN isn't offering the opinions I give you ad free here on ArmchairGM.com

I pretty much stopped reading ESPN the day I started reading/writing on ArmchairGM and realizing I could write entertaining articles that didn't include 90210 references out the Keyser Soze (although I still peruse the occasional TMQ article)

If it wasn't for Hunter S Thompson and Ralph Wiley, there would have never been a Page 2 and since they're dead, why read ESPN.com?

TO and Moss will never succeed outside of a place like New England, where there's a no-nonsense coach that they can see knows what he's doing, and captians that will jump all over their asses if they screw up
