Born on October 9, 1954 in Sacramento, California, Randy Lerch (Randy Louis Lerch) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Milwaukee Brewers, Montreal Expos and San Francisco Giants over the course of his 11 year career. Lerch broke into the bigs on September 14, 1975 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 5.07 ERA in 168.2 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Randy Lerch's best season was 1978, when he posted a 3.96 ERA, won 11 games and struck out 96 batters.
