New York Yankees SP Randy Johnson was suspended five games for throwing at Eduardo Perez during Wednesday's game. Manager Joe Torre will also be suspended for one day. Johnson will likely appeal the decision and have a start pushed back on day later.

Essentially, Johnson misses only 1 start. Ooooo, this is a major punishment...not!

He won't even be missing a start. It'll just be pushed back a day. It's hard to actually punish starting pitchers.

It probably better for the Yankees if Johnson doesn't start.

Perhaps he should be punished for 20-25 games, that way he'd miss four or five starts. That might make a difference. What's the point of Johnson appealing, it isn't a problem.

That can't be done. Can't even be considered. 25 games for throwing inside?

Johnson is a ball sack. The Yankees deserve him.

What makes him a ball sack? Why do the Yankees deserve ball sacks? Even as a Sox fan that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me...

If Torre got suspended one game for this, why doesn't Ozzie Guillen get suspended for having his guy try to hit Hank Blalock?

That just shows you the different kinds of managers. As with some of our past Presidents, some are conservative and others are liberal. It all depends upon the personality and type of person.

Guillen should be suspended, not Torre and Johnson.

No kidding, he punished a player who DIDN'T hit a batter.

Managers absolutely should be suspended if they get caught telling their guys to hit somebody. Whether it's currently against the rules or not, it should be. Brawls and fights should be part of hockey, not baseball. It's time they crack down on this.
