Random Thoughts and Brutal Honesty

I don't know about many of you, but some of the most recent events in the sports world has either left me standing in awe or scratching my head. Thus, it's only better to clear the head of these thoughts:
Does anyone want to win the Atlantic Division in the Eastern Conference? Perhaps Stern should issue an open challenge. I have wrestled with the idea of gathering 12-15 members of my youth group to possibly challenge these teams. As it is right now, it looks like a 30-52 record may be enough to win the worst division in sports.
The worst division in sports may be in the worst conference in sports. 1 month into the NBA season and only 4 out of the 15 teams in the East has a .500 record. Orlando has the best record in the East right now and Darko, yes Darko has played a pivotal role. 14 points and 3 blocks in the win over Seattle on Wednesday. Dwight Howard has asserted himself tremendously as a force in this league. Orlando is on the rise.
The Utah Jazz have arrived. Their front line of AK, Carlos Boozer {averaging 23 points and 10 boards} and Mehmet Okur is a Yao Ming-like order for the rest of the league. Plus they have a defense to match. And Deron Williams's 20-pound weight loss has completely enhanced an already promising tenure in the NBA. This validates Jerry Sloan as a great head coach.
There is so much parity in the West. 11 out of 15 teams in the West have a .500 record and as of Wednesday have a 50-24 record in head to head matchups over the East. Is it possible to petition the NBA to allow Western Conference teams that barely missed the playoffs to replace the subpar .500 East teams that do?
Why did ESPN.com do an article based on the groupie vixen Kaffina Stephens earlier this week? Apparently sex sells in all aspects of the media and it has rared its head into the ESPN archives. But this is all part of the recent and sickening downward spiral of ESPN which has seemed to place entertainment and flash over real sports stories. And if it isn't just in its mag, it's on the Monday Night Football telecast with Tirico, Theismann and Tony {bring back Paul Mcguire} Kornheiser. Taking up the entire third quarter to interview Emmitt Smith for "Dancing with the Stars" or to interview Jay-Z now takes precedence.
Next Monday, you might see Kaffina Stephens in the booth with Tony Kornheiser unable to stay focused. Bring a brown paper bag in case.
I have a feeling that if I were to walk into the Giants locker room right now, I would have to bring diapers, baby wipes, baby bottles and earplugs. Coughlin will need a lot of baby wipes himself because he is standing in a whole load of crap at the moment. Barber will continue to talk and talk and talk again. Shockey will continue to throw his hands in the air until he is fed his proverbial baby bottle. And Strahan needs to lay off the caffeine in the morning. Here's a clue to whether your team has a bad teammate or not, If you had to think for more than 10 seconds whether you rather have that teammate or T.O.
In Plaxico's case, it took ten minutes. Plaxico would have had a lot more help if this team were to fall apart.
If the Giants don't beat the Romo Empire on Sunday, that's exactly what will happen. Despite all the media drama this week, the timebomb hasn't gone off yet. Tom Coughlin would probably be axed as a result and Jim Mora Jr might join him.
Parcells looks like a genius for going to Romo. As I was scarfing down my Thanksgiving turkey, Romo was carving the Bucs up piece by piece. There is something special about this kid. He has that aura similar to how Brady and Big Ben started out. Parcells looked spent during that Monday Night game. Now he might stick around a few more years to ride this Romo Train out.
If the New York Jets win ten games this year even if they were to fall short of the playoffs, Eric Mangini should be locked for the NFL Coach of the Year.
It's going to be a wild AFC Wild-Card race. Denver, Kansas City, Cincy, Jets, and the Jags. The Denver Broncos waited way too long to pull the plug on Jake Plummer. The football world will be introduced to Jay Cutler as he gets his feet wet against the defending NFC Champs.
Vince Young has arrived in the NFL with that big comeback on Sunday. The Titans need to build around him and get him the right pieces.
Carolina is underachieving at 6-5.
Jeter was robbed of the MVP award.
Finally, I stress my absolute displeasure at this BCS System in which is about to pick a national title game based on computer stats and ratings. Just take the C out of the word BCS and you'll know how I feel about it. Get a playoff system!!
Bowl games or the NCAA Tournament??
Decisions, Decisions, Decisions.
