Ralph Lanum (Ralph Lewis Lanum) was born on September 13, 1896 in Champaign, Illinois. After going to high school at Champaign (IL), Decatur (IL) and Urbana (IL), Lanum attended Millikin University and the University of Illinois. Lanum made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Decatur Staleys. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Chicago Staleys and Decatur Staleys over the course of his 2 year APFA career.Lanum also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Chicago Bears the entire time.
